Dangerous goods


Though items can be carried when properly disclosed and under clearly agreed terms and conditions, generally, the carriage by courier of substances and items classified as dangerous goods by IATA rules is forbidden! You will find non-exhaustive examples of these items on this page. In addition, there are country-specific restrictions on the contents of packages which you can check under Country Information.

Banned and restricted items


The items listed below are totally banned:

  • Money, securities, traveller’s cheques, platinum, gold or silver (wrought or unwrought), gemstones, jewellery.
  • Narcotics, e.g. LSD, morphine, cocaine, cannabis products, opium
  • Fire Arms & Ammunition
  • Live animals. Dead animals and their parts.
  • Human Parts
  • Pornographic Materials
  • Items and substances, the possession or use of which is prohibited by law.

Apart from the above, other items may have restrictions on their carriage and may only be allowed as insured items to those countries that permit them.



FAQs

Q. I do not have my Order Number, is it possible to track my shipment?

A. It is not possible to track your shipment without a Shopafrica53 Order Number. However, you may contact our Customer Service for assistance.

Q. What are the normal delivery times?

A. Standard delivery rounds would have been completed by 4 pm on working days (Mon - Fri).

Q. Will a parcel be delivered if the address details of the shipment are incomplete?

A. Yes, most likely it will be, but the delivery may be delayed. Efficient delivery is based on accurate, complete and clearly marked address details, and telephone number. Incomplete shipment details may cause a delay of one or two days. Furthermore, if there are no address details, the shipment cannot be delivered.

Q. What happens to parcels with incorrect address details?

A. If the addressee cannot be verified, the sender shall be notified and the item will be held for up to 30 days to clarify the details of the addressee after which the package will be returned to the merchant at the purchaser's cost. Incomplete, outdated or unclear address details often cause delays in parcel delivery.
